Our Vision

The Randomization Working Group aims to bring the well-known results in scientific literature into practice and attract attention to basic principles of randomization, including the pros and cons of various randomization methods.

It is universally accepted that randomization is a cornerstone of clinical trials. While scientific research on randomization methods has progressed over the years, the implementation of these “novel” methods has been severely lagging. Members of the Randomization Working Group are passionate about implementing these novel randomization methods to support the biopharmaceutical community in producing and conducting higher-quality, more reliable clinical trials.

Objectives and Deliverables

The strategic goals of the Randomization WG are:

  1. Statistical methodology research: To engage scientists with the right expertise (industry – academia – health authorities) for investigation of the existing and emerging methods of randomization for clinical trials and to identify the statistical methodologies that are fit-for-purpose for use in practice.
  2. Regulatory landscape awareness: To interact with regulators across the globe to understand the current and emerging requirements for randomization in clinical trials.
  3. Publications, networking, and information sharing: To publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals; to disseminate the learnings through trainings, workshops, and professional conferences for both statisticians and non-statisticians.
  4. Promotion of best practices: To develop white papers with recommendations, templates for study protocols and statistical analysis plans, and a catalogue of statistical software and other relevant research tools that may be useful for planning a randomization method for clinical trials.

The Randomization Working Group is also a Special Interest Group of the ASA Biopharmaceutical Section, Dahshu, and PSI/EFSPI.

We are also actively welcoming new members. If you are interested in joining or have further questionsplease contact us.
